When Brian Keaulana, Todd Bradley, and Mike Fox partnered together to form C4 Waterman, the journey in water sports excellence started. This business venture continues to be one of the best rides of their lives. With their combined talents, knowledge, and experience in water sports, they created their own brand of wave-riding tools and equipment. They accomplished this creation by incorporating more than 100 years of ocean experience into their state-of-the-art paddles, stand-up boards, and accessories.
C4 stands for the Core 4 disciplines of being a waterman: Balance, Endurance, Strength, and Tradition (B.E.S.T.). “Our philosophy is based upon a respect for the ocean and the Hawaiian roots of these sports, along with the desire to extend the culture and camaraderie of true watermen," said Bradley. "It is our goal to develop a complete line of waterman equipment and accessories, utilizing our own expertise to offer a better product for those who wish to further explore the lifestyle."
Let's recall to the days when Waikiki beach boys taught surfing lessons. While trying to take pictures of themselves with their cameras, tourists were given paddles to help them maneuver around with ease. By using the surfboard as a platform, one may say that stand-up paddling and surfing was founded in laziness. Profoundly, the paddles proved to be more of a tool. While always enjoyable and fun, using the paddles improved the surfer's core strength and balance.
Now, stand up paddling is a widely enjoyed water sport. "Anybody can do this," says Keaulana. "It's not about being 'somebody', it's about being your best and creating your own best experience in life. Within every person there's a waterman.”
C4 Waterman carries a range of high-performance stand-up boards, ranging in length and design from 10'0", to 10'6", 11'6", and even a new high-performance racing board - the Vortice XP. Using modern technology to create such a board, this new board can handle every size and type of wave, including even to flat water. If you plan to travel and enjoy water sports inland, entertain C4's inflatable stand-up board, the "Uli".
The creation of a progressive blend of rocker and curves for the board was a collaboration of experience and knowledge between Keaulana and former pro-surfer Dave Parmenter . This enabled the board to stay loose while maintaining its speed. The "Pohaku Paddles", another hot seller, are made of wood, carbon, and hybrid wood/carbon. These paddles are versatile and can be used in stand-up surfing, canoe-paddling, steering, and big-wave riding.
To create a competitive advantage, C4 Waterman took progressive steps to incorporate modern technology and lessons of the past. With a strong following of admirers and loyal customers, C4 Waterman has dominated the water sports world in its crafts and designs. More importantly, C4 Waterman's legacy of innovative water sports equipment and accessories can be enjoyed for future generations to come.
